Zamalek has firmly moved to block Ahmed Mostafa Zizo from playing for Al Ahly in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, insisting his contract remains active until June 12, the reported end of the Egyptian Capital Cup.
In an official letter to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), Zamalek clarified that Zizo is still their player, with his deal running until the season’s close. The club stressed that the tournament’s conclusion signals the actual end of the football season, not any earlier.
Club officials urged the EFA to uphold league regulations and protect club rights, warning they will pursue all legal measures if their position is ignored.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly remains unshaken. A club source stated Zizo will feature in the Club World Cup, dismissing Zamalek’s stance. The source claimed Zizo’s contract expires after Thursday’s Egyptian Cup final against Pyramids.
They added that Al Ahly has met all legal requirements, with a registration window from June 1–10 cleared by the organizers. Confident in their position, Al Ahly plans to include Zizo in their Club World Cup squad.
