The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has finalized 20 May as the date for the Egyptian Cup final between Zamalek and Pyramids, aiming to keep the domestic calendar on track.
The decision is part of a broader plan to wrap up the current football season by 1 June, allowing for the opening of the new registration period on 2 June, in line with the board’s latest directives.
The EFA clarified the timing through its media center, pointing to a number of factors that made the date ideal. One key reason is that both Zamalek and Pyramids have already exited the Capital of Egypt Cup, leaving their schedules free for the final. The conclusion of the U-20 African Cup of Nations, hosted in Egypt and ending just before the final, also contributed to the selection of the date.
By picking 20 May, the EFA aims to keep competitions running smoothly, avoid fixture congestion, and ensure clubs can prepare properly for the upcoming season without delays.
