It’s noteworthy that Zacharia Awudu, a 17-year-old Ghanaian midfielder from Berekum Chelsea, has become a new star in Cameroon by joining Union de Douala, the champions of Cameroon. The chairman of the USD board of directors mentioned that the contract signed is for two years, and while the exact amount was not disclosed, negotiations were described as not easy.
Despite initial discussions about a four-year lease, concessions were made to secure the player’s transfer. Awudu, who is the captain of the Black Starlets, Ghana’s U17 national team, attracted interest not only from Union de Douala but also from the Ghana Football Federation. However, Union de Douala ultimately succeeded in convincing both the player and the federation that it was the right choice for his development. This move underscores the promising talent of Awudu and the efforts made to secure his services.
