Youssoufa Moukoko’s loan at OGC Nice faces scrutiny amidst struggles

Youssoufa MOUKOKO

Youssoufa Moukoko’s loan stint at OGC Nice has been far from the success many had hoped for.

The Cameroonian-German striker’s move from Borussia Dortmund was meant to reignite his career, but with only two goals and two assists in 13 appearances, the results have been underwhelming.

Despite high expectations, Moukoko has failed to boost his transfer value or make a decisive impact for Nice. His performance in November, especially following a disappointing outing against FC Twente, led manager Franck Haise to admit that the young forward was still struggling to find his rhythm. “These are difficult times when you’re a footballer,” Haise remarked after the match.

Speculation about an early termination of the loan deal has surfaced, but Haise quickly shot down any such ideas. “I am committed, the club are committed, and the player is committed too. The thought [of a loan termination] isn’t even there. Instead, we’re thinking about how we can make sure that the player is more incisive and decisive,” said the manager following Nice’s 2-2 draw with Montpellier HSC.

The 20-year-old has played seven games, scored two goals, and assisted one in Ligue 1 this season.
