Youssouf Fofana linked with Roma move as AC Milan future questioned

French-Malian midfielder Youssouf Fofana is the subject of a reported move from AC Milan to Roma, with the Serie A clubs linked over a possible transfer.

Fofana, 27, has been at Milan since joining from Monaco on 17 August 2024 in a deal worth €26m. He remains under contract with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028, meaning any move to Roma would require an agreement between the clubs rather than a free transfer.

The defensive midfielder has a market value of €23m and was part of the Milan side that won the Italian Super Cup in the 2024-25 season. That remains his only listed major honour with the club.

Fofana began his senior career with Strasbourg, where he won the French League Cup in the 2018-19 campaign, before moving to Monaco in January 2020. His career also includes a World Cup runners-up medal with France at the 2022 tournament.

The rumour places the player within Italy’s top flight, with Roma and Milan both competing in Serie A. No transfer fee or probability has been attached to the reported move, while Fofana’s existing contract leaves Milan in a strong position regarding his future.
