Youssouf Fofana gave AC Milan fans a scare after picking up an injury just 20 minutes into their Serie A clash with Genoa on Saturday.
The midfielder, known for his tireless work under coach Sergio Conceição, went down following a collision with Junior Messias.
Although he tried to play on, Fofana clearly struggled and was soon replaced by Rafael Leão. Milan supporters held their breath, especially with the Coppa Italia final just days away.
Fortunately, early reports suggest the injury is not serious. DAZN noted that Fofana looked calm on the bench, icing the sole of his foot and chatting with teammates.
The timing of the knock could have been disastrous, but the signs point to a quick recovery. Milan will be hoping he’s fit and firing for the final against Bologna, where his presence in midfield could make all the difference.
Fofana has become a key figure in Milan’s system, and fans will be relieved to hear he should be ready when silverware is on the line.
