AC Milan has finalized the acquisition of French international Youssouf Fofana, who has signed a four-year contract with the Rossoneri, extending until June 30, 2028. The move, announced on August 17, sees Fofana transition from AS Monaco to the Serie A club in a deal reportedly valued at around €25 million.
The transfer brings to a close a period of speculation regarding Fofana’s future.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder, who previously spent four seasons with AS Monaco, has made the move to Milan following a season in which he demonstrated his considerable talents in Ligue 1.
At Monaco, Fofana contributed significantly with four goals and three assists, highlighting his ability to impact the game both defensively and offensively.
“AC Milan is pleased to announce the signing of Youssouf Fofana on a permanent basis from AS Monaco,” the club stated.
“The midfielder has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until June 30, 2028.”
With just a year remaining on his previous contract with AS Monaco, Fofana has opted for a new challenge in Italy’s top flight.
He will don the number 29 jersey at AC Milan. His move comes amid interest from several top European clubs, including Manchester United, but he has chosen to continue his career in Serie A.
Fofana’s arrival at Milan is expected to bolster their midfield options significantly.
Known for his defensive solidity and tactical intelligence, he is anticipated to play a crucial role in anchoring Milan’s midfield as they pursue success in both domestic and European competitions.
As Fofana begins his tenure with the Rossoneri, Milan fans and management alike will be eager to see how he adapts to the demands of Serie A.
His experience in French football and his recent form make him a promising addition to Milan’s squad, and his presence is expected to strengthen their midfield significantly.
