The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reacted to the passing of Super Eagles legend Peter Rufai.
In a post on social media to mourn the late goalkeeper, the NFF stressed that his legacy will live on between the sticks and beyond.
“Forever in our hearts, Dodo Mayana. We mourn the passing of legendary Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, a giant of Nigerian football and a 1994 AFCON champion.
“Your legacy lives on between the sticks and beyond. Rest well, Peter Rufai,” the NFF posted on X.

According to confirmed information, Rufai passed away on Thursday, July 3, after battling with prolonged illness.
The retired goalkeeper affectionately called Dodomayana joined his ancestors at the age of 61.
The deceased was widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers to come out of Nigeria.
Peter Rufai enjoyed a stellar football career over a period of two decades where he had stints in Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.
He had a good career with the Nigeria Super Eagles, representing his country at two World Cups and making appearances at many Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
