Nigerian international Papa Mustapha Daniel is on the verge of completing a move to Swiss side BSC Young Boys Bern, with talks between the player’s representatives and the club understood to be nearing a successful conclusion.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been in fine form this season in the Nigeria Professional Football League, where he made 21 appearances, scoring three goals and contributing three assists for Niger Tornadoes.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with the Swiss Super League champions now poised to offer him a platform on the European stage.

Daniel, who featured for the Nigerian national team during the last international break, previously had a brief stint abroad with Turkish club Adanaspor.

However, his time in Turkey was cut short after just four months, following a contractual dispute due to unpaid wages.

He subsequently returned to Nigeria, signing for Niger Tornadoes and quickly re-establishing himself as one of the league’s standout midfield talents.

His efforts have now drawn the attention of Young Boys Bern, one of Switzerland’s most decorated clubs. The Swiss outfit has entered into advanced negotiations with Daniel’s agency, Team Royal Agents, led by Amadou Fontem Tigana.

According to Tigana, the parties are working towards finalising a renewable two-year deal that would see the midfielder continue his development in Europe.

“Talks are progressing well,” Tigana shared with Africafoot. “Papa Mustapha Daniel is excited about this opportunity, and we believe Young Boys will be the perfect environment for him to grow and showcase his talent.”

The potential transfer marks a significant step forward in the player’s career, and it reflects the growing reputation of Nigerian footballers across European leagues.

For Daniel, it also represents a chance to move beyond the domestic stage and compete in a team with continental ambitions.

Young Boys Bern, based in the Swiss capital, boast a rich history, including numerous Swiss Super League titles and regular appearances in European competitions.

The addition of Daniel to their squad could bring further depth and dynamism to their midfield options as they prepare for the challenges of the upcoming season.

While final details are still being ironed out, sources close to the negotiation process are confident that an agreement will be concluded shortly.

The structure of the proposed deal includes performance-related clauses and the possibility of an extension, depending on Daniel’s adaptation and impact at the club.

The next few weeks will be crucial as the deal nears completion. If finalised, it would signal another important move in Daniel’s evolving career, while providing Young Boys with a versatile and hardworking midfielder capable of influencing matches both defensively and in transition.

A formal announcement from the club is expected once the agreement is fully signed, pending medical examinations and work permit clearances.

For now, all indications suggest that Papa Mustapha Daniel’s journey from Nigeria to the heart of Swiss football is well underway.
