Young Africans coach Pedro Goncalves targets Tanzanian league title and Champions League quarterfinal feat
Young African head coach Pedro Goncalves has set sights on securing the Tanzanian Premier League and a quarterfinal feat in the CAF Champions League.
The former Angola tactician joined the Tanzanian football powerhouse in October 2025, replacing Romain Folz and has since been outstanding for the club.
Currently, Young Africans sit second on the Tanzanian League standings. In the CAF Confederation Cup, the Tanzanian outfit are tied on four points with Al Ahly after two matches into the group stage games.
However, the experienced tactician has set an ambitious target to win the Premier League title and also reach the quarterfinals of the Confederation Cup this season.
‘We want to win the league title with Young Africans; we can’t think of anything else. We’re working hard to improve every day. As for the CAF Champions League, our goal is to reach the quarterfinals, and then we’ll see what happens. Our mentality is to take each game as it comes, and that’s how we’ve been successful so far” he said.
Young Africans travels to Egypt to face Al Ahly in a highly competitive CAF Champions League on Friday, January 22, 2026.
The high-stake clash has been scheduled to take place at the Borg El Arab stadium, with victory crucial for both teams.
