Younes Abdelhamid targets Morocco national team call-up after joining AS FAR

Moroccan defender Younes Abdelhamid has set his sights on earning a national team recall after completing a move to AS FAR ahead of the new season.

The 37-year-old centre-back signed with the Moroccan giants following his departure from French outfit Saint-Étienne.

Despite his age, AS FAR and head coach Alexandre Santos have opted to revamp their defensive options, parting ways with Akram Al-Naqqash, Hatem Al-Sawabi, and Al-Sayeb Boukhris to make room for Abdelhamid’s arrival.

Abdelhamid is determined to impress with the Royal Army Club and force his way back into the Atlas Lions squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Morocco will host.

The veteran defender was also part of Morocco’s squad at the most recent AFCON tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.
