Yoram Zague’s star shone brightly on Wednesday evening as he clinched a remarkable milestone with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), sparking speculation about his international future.

Deployed on the right flank of PSG’s defense, Zague etched his name in the annals of the club’s history with a debut goal against Nice (2-1) in Ligue 1.

The 18-year-old defender, standing at 1.68 meters, capitalized on a precise delivery from left-winger Bradley Barcola, slotting home a first-intention shot past the opposing goalkeeper just 23 minutes into the game.

For Zague, the significance of this moment was twofold, as it coincided with his 18th birthday, marking a memorable milestone in his burgeoning career.

Celebrating the occasion with his teammates, Zague earned plaudits from PSG coach Luis Enrique, who hailed his defensive solidity and attacking contributions in a post-match press conference.

Despite his youthful age, Zague has already amassed significant experience, making four Ligue 1 starts for PSG this season.

Across all competitions, he has featured in 28 matches, notably excelling in the U19 national championship, where he registered three goals and provided five assists.

As Zague continues to impress, speculation looms over his international allegiance. The young talent has represented France at various youth levels, accumulating 12 caps with the U17 squad and three caps with the U18s.

However, with strong ties to Ivory Coast, his country of heritage, Zague remains an enticing prospect for the Elephants, particularly following the nation’s recent triumph in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).

With dual nationality offering Zague the prospect of representing either France or Ivory Coast, attention turns to the decision-making process.

While the allure of donning the blue jersey of France is undeniable, the allure of representing the Elephants could prove equally compelling, especially amidst Ivory Coast’s rising prominence in international football.

As Zague prepares for PSG’s final Ligue 1 fixture against Metz, all eyes remain on the emerging talent, pondering whether he will add to his tally with another stellar performance, perhaps even netting his second professional goal in the process.
