Yassir Zabiri scores in Racing Santander’s thrilling 2-2 draw with Valencia

Moroccan forward Yassir Zabiri scored his seventh goal in eight La Liga appearances this season as Racing Santander drew 2-2 at home against Valencia on Sunday evening.

The 32nd-minute equaliser helped Racing Santander recover from an early setback in the Matchday 8 encounter, with both sides eventually sharing the points.

Valencia took the lead after just two minutes through Dani Raba, but Zabiri brought the hosts level before half-time.

Racing Santander completed the turnaround shortly after the break when Ivan Martin scored in the 47th minute.

However, Valencia responded in the 65th minute through David Otorbi to secure a 2-2 draw.

Zabiri earns September award

Zabiri’s latest goal takes his tally to seven across eight league appearances, placing him near the top of the La Liga scoring charts, behind Barcelona’s Raphinha.

The Moroccan striker was also named La Liga U23 Player of the Month for September after scoring three goals during the month.

Racing Santander remain 15th

Racing Santander sit 15th in the standings after eight matchdays, with eight points from two wins, two draws and four defeats.

The draw against Valencia leaves them three points clear of the relegation zone.
