Yassine Titraoui, who recently made the move to Charleroi SC, has expressed his desire to represent Algeria on the international stage under coach Vladimir Petković. The 26-year-old midfielder, who transferred from Paradou AC to the Belgian side for an estimated 1.2 million euros this summer, hopes his performances in the Jupiler Pro League will soon earn him a spot in the national team.
In an interview with local media, Titraoui opened up about his adjustment to life in Belgium and the challenges of playing abroad for the first time.
“At first, it was difficult mentally. This is my first experience abroad, and I had been a regular with Paradou for three years, but I am someone who is mentally strong,” he shared.
Titraoui, who has made eight appearances in the Pro League with Charleroi, has started only two of those matches.
Despite the challenges, the midfielder remains focused on his goal of securing a place in Algeria’s national team.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind his footballing career, Titraoui recalled watching Algeria’s remarkable performance in the 2014 World Cup, which ignited his passion for the sport.
“It was by watching Algeria’s performance in 2014 that I decided to become a footballer,” he said. “I signed for Charleroi to get closer to the national team.”
Titraoui’s call for attention from the national team comes at a time when his career in Belgium is gaining momentum, and he remains optimistic about his future with both Charleroi and Algeria.
