Midfielder Yassine Kechta shares his remarkable journey, aspirations, and emotions from his early days to realizing dreams on the prestigious pitches of Ligue 1.Reflecting on his introduction to the football world, Kechta fondly recalls his time at a football-studies college in Colombes. He navigated through stints with Racing and Paris FC before finding a home at Le Havre AC. Expressing gratitude for the club’s support in academic matters, he humorously remarks, “When you taste professional football, you only want one thing, to continue there, to give your all to football.”
Proudly embracing his Moroccan heritage, Kechta acknowledges the profound influence of his parents. He states, “Both my parents are Moroccan. It’s a source of pride.
When you grow up, you watch the matches, your whole family watches… It’s a lot of emotion to play for Morocco.”
Having worn the armband for the Moroccan U23 selection, Kechta recognizes the dual pleasure and responsibility it brings. He emphasizes, “It’s a pleasure. And a big responsibility. You have to give everything!”
Reflecting on his early international experiences, Kechta clarifies that despite a preselection with the French U16 team, Morocco’s direct call led him to represent the country of his parents.
He recalls participating in the prestigious Val-de-Marne tournament, cherishing the opportunity not everyone gets to experience such significant events.
Discussing his friendship with compatriot Amir Richardson, Kechta highlights the competitive spirit when they face each other on the pitch.
He mentions, “There will be no friends on the pitch, we will do everything to beat them. With a revenge on the way.
We had lost 1 to 0, but there was room. But that’s Ligue 1. It’s about nothing. We have to learn that: in the match, to better manage the moments when we are less good, to be more solid.”
After six months in Ligue 1 with Le Havre AC, Kechta expresses admiration for the league, describing it as a “great championship” with a high level of talent. Playing in Ligue 1 is, for him, the fulfillment of a childhood dream.
