Zamalek coach Yannick Ferreira spoke with calm assurance as he prepared his team for their Egyptian Premier League meeting with Wadi Degla.
The Belgian manager stressed that his squad is in the right frame of mind, even with the tight turnaround from the previous match.
“The players who played long minutes in the last match underwent recovery training, while the rest of the players performed intensive training,” Ferreira explained during his press conference. “We will continue our preparations today and tomorrow in anticipation of the match.”
While some worried about wasted chances in the last outing, Ferreira remained upbeat. “We’re calm about this issue. We lost opportunities by very few centimeters. Nasser Mansi missed a great header and a shot that hit the post, but he was present and played well.”
He reminded critics that even top clubs take time to turn dominance into goals. “We created 21 chances, but only conceded two shots on goal, which is very positive. Even Paris Saint-Germain won their first two Ligue 1 matches by a single goal despite their dominance.”
Ferreira praised Mansi’s effort, noting he deserved a goal, and backed his squad to adapt despite the absence of Nabil Emad Dunga.
