Yanis Guermouche: Algerian-French forward makes FC Wacker move from Slavia Sofia

Algerian-French striker Yanis Guermouche has joined Austrian club FC Wacker from Bulgarian side Slavia Sofia, signing a contract that runs until 30 June 2028.

The 25-year-old centre-forward makes the move to FC Wacker in Austria’s 2. Liga after spending just over a year with Slavia Sofia. He joined the Bulgarian club from fellow top-flight side Hebar on 1 July 2025.

Guermouche made four appearances for Slavia Sofia in the opening part of the 2026-27 efbet Liga campaign but did not score. He now moves to FC Wacker as the club’s latest attacking addition, with his arrival confirmed on 2 September.

Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, Guermouche holds Algerian and French nationality. The 1.92m forward is right-footed and operates primarily through the centre of the attack.

His move to FC Wacker is the latest step in a career that has included spells in France, Greece and Bulgaria. Guermouche began his senior pathway with Montpellier B after coming through Montpellier’s Under-19 side, and later spent time with Montpellier’s first team.

He also had a loan spell with LB Chateauroux during the 2022-23 season before leaving Montpellier for Greek club Iraklis in February 2024. He subsequently joined Bulgarian side Krumovgrad in August that year and moved to Hebar in January 2025, with both transfers recorded as free moves.

Guermouche’s previous switch, from Hebar to Slavia Sofia, was also completed without a transfer fee. He leaves Slavia after one season and two months, having most recently featured in the Bulgarian top flight.

FC Wacker have secured the services of the forward on a deal lasting through June 2028.
