Yan Diomande has expressed firm belief that he will succeed at Real Madrid after returning from international duty with Cote d’Ivoire. The young winger did not score during the latest international break, but he showed encouraging signs in the Elephants’ matches and spoke positively about both the national team and his early experiences in Spain.
Cote d’Ivoire began their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with two victories from two matches. Diomande highlighted that perfect record as the main positive from the international break, despite the team’s defeat by Cameroon in a friendly.
The loss to the Indomitable Lions did not fully satisfy the winger, although he believes the result should be viewed in context. The technical staff made several changes during the match, and the team was still adapting to those adjustments.
Diomande does not consider the performance a failure. His assessment was that Cote d’Ivoire did not play badly, but lacked efficiency at key moments. The winger therefore sees no reason to draw overly negative conclusions from the friendly and is keen to move on, continue developing at club level and return to the national team in stronger form.
The Ivorian also voiced confidence in the new Elephants head coach. Although he accepts that the manager needs time to introduce his ideas and establish his methods, Diomande already believes the new coach can help the team take another step forward.
His comments also reflected his confidence at Real Madrid, where he is beginning to experience the demands of one of European football’s biggest clubs. Despite the attention surrounding his move, Diomande said he feels comfortable in his new surroundings and remains calm about the expectations attached to his arrival.
The player has been described as the most expensive Ivorian footballer of all time and the biggest sale in the history of Leipzig. He is now focused on adapting to life at Real Madrid and proving that he can meet the level required at the club.
Real Madrid’s next fixture is their seventh match of the Spanish league season, against Villarreal. After completing his latest international commitments with Cote d’Ivoire, Diomande will now return to his club as he continues the opening stage of his Real Madrid career.
