President of the Spanish Football Federation, Rafael Lausanne, has praised Lamine Yamal, stressing that he deserves to win the Ballon d’Or.
The Barcelona star of Moroccan heritage put up an impressive performance as the La Roja secured a superb 5-4 win against France in the semifinal of the UEFA Nations League on Thursday night with Yamal netting a brace.
Speaking to Spanish channel RTVE after the win, Lausanne said, “I think it’s clear to everyone, not just because of the two goals he scored, but because of the fantastic performance he had by all standards.
“Every touch from Yamal dazzles everyone. He has established himself as a great player despite his young age. I hope he is awarded the Ballon d’Or, he truly deserves it,” he stressed.
The Spanish national team has secured its place in the UEFA Nations League final, where it will face Portugal next Sunday.
Lausanne also spoke about his first final as president of the federation, saying, “It was a great match. Spain proved once again its superiority, even though we faced a great team. It may seem easy, but it is extremely difficult.”
He concluded, “The Spanish national team will be among the best in the world rankings, and that is no small achievement. I congratulate the players and the coaching staff on the outstanding work they have done.”
