The management board of Wydad Athletic Club, headed by Abdelmajid Beranaki, convened with Tunisian coach Faouzi Benzarti, manager of the “Red Team,” to discuss the details of their separation by mutual agreement.
According to a reliable source, Wydad Athletic Club met with Benzarti to reach an agreement to terminate the contract between them amicably, with the club’s management preparing to announce the decision in the coming hours.
The same source indicated that Wydad’s management had been attempting to retain Benzarti at the helm of the technical staff until the end of the current football season.
However, continued poor results compelled the administration to meet with the Tunisian coach to agree on contract termination.
The recent defeat against Union Tangier, with a score of two goals to nil, marked the tipping point and confirmed the runner-up of the African League champion’s entry into a results crisis.
Benzarti had announced his resignation from his duties as coach of the “Red Team” weeks ago.
However, the club’s management rejected the resignation and urged him to continue his duties.
Wydad’s tally froze at 33 points, placing them in fifth position in the Moroccan Professional Football League standings, diminishing their chances in the title race.
It’s noteworthy that they bid farewell to the CAF Champions League at the group stage.
