Moroccan giants, Wydad Casablanca, have decided to retain Cassius Mailula and Thembinkosi Lorch on permanent deals despite the exit of Rhulani Mokwena as the head coach of the side.
Mailula joined the Botola Pro League giants on loan from Major League Soccer team Toronto FC in August 2024, while Lorch was brought into the team on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns in January this year.
The loan agreements for both players will expire at the end of the season, and with Mokwena now having parted ways with the club, there were worries about the futures of Lorch and Mailula within the team.
According to multiple reports, the Red Devils are pleased with the performances of the two South African forwards.
Mohamed Amine Benhachem, who also serves as the technical director and the interim head coach, has proposed making their signings permanent following their strong performances throughout the season.
It is said that Wydad has the option to activate the buy clause in the agreement by paying the specified financial amount included in the loan deals without needing to negotiate with their parent clubs.
Mailula has netted three goals and provided seven assists, while Lorch has scored two goals. Both have been named Player of the Month for January and March, respectively.
The duo will be looking to assist Wydad in winning the last two matches and hope that AS FAR Rabat drops points to qualify for next season’s edition of the CAF Champions League.
