Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca are eyeing a double swoop for Reda Selim of Al Ahly and Salah El-Din Mossadek of Zamalek as part of a major squad overhaul ahead of the upcoming football season.
Both players, Moroccan nationals, have been identified as key targets by head coach Amine Benhachem, who is working closely with club president Hicham Ait Mena to rebuild the squad following a disappointing outing at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Wydad exited the tournament at the group stage without earning a single point, having suffered defeats to Manchester City, Juventus, and Al Ain.
In response, the club has decided to part ways with 21 players from the current squad to make room for fresh reinforcements.
Reda Selim, a former player for the Royal Army, had previously declared he would only feature for the Army in Moroccan football before making the move to Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly.
Mossadek, on the other hand, is no stranger to Wydad, having once donned the club’s red shirt before his switch to rivals Zamalek.
The potential return of both players could mark the beginning of a new chapter for Wydad as they seek to restore their dominance on the domestic and continental stages.
