Wydad Casablanca have turned down the opportunity to secure the secure the services of highly-profiled players Pedro (former of Barcelona) and Benjamin Mendy (formerly of Manchester City) ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Moroccan giants is one of the four clubs expected to represent Africa at the impending Club World Cup to be staged in the USA next month.
Having being paired in Group G against Manchester City, Juventus, and Al-Ain, the Moroccan outfit are seeking to strengthen their squad to make a meaningful impact at the tournament.
According to reports, Pedro and Mendy, who are currently free agents were offered to the Moroccan outfit by intermediaries but the club swiftly turned down a move.
Wydad Casablanca’s transfer policy is clear, that is to sign players based on performance, but not profile.
The club has, however, rejected the proposal, citing their commitment to building a cohesive, competitive team for both the Club World Cup and the 2024–2025 season.
Wydad Casablanca emphasized a desire to invest in players aligned with the team’s long-term sporting vision, rather than banking on past reputations.
