Wydad Casablanca are reportedly closing in on a permanent deal for Thembinkosi Lorch, who is currently on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The South African midfielder joined the Moroccan giants during the January transfer window, with his loan deal set to expire on July 31 following the conclusion of the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
According to Moroccan publication Sport7, Wydad president Hicham Ait Mena has fast-tracked efforts to secure Lorch’s services permanently and has already submitted a formal offer to Sundowns.
The 31-year-old has made a strong impression since arriving in Morocco, earning the club’s Player of the Month award for April.
He has featured in nine Botola Pro 1 matches, scoring twice and receiving praise from both fans and coaching staff for his consistent performances.
Wydad are reportedly convinced by Lorch’s quality and are now awaiting an official response from the South African champions regarding the proposed transfer.
Attempts to obtain comment from Mamelodi Sundowns were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
