Wydad Casablanca head coach Rulani Mokwena has called for support after dropping points over the weekend in the Moroccan topflight.
Wydad were held to a 2-2 draw against Fath Rabat in the Round of 24 games at the Stade Larbi Zaouli.
Wydad is third in the standings with 42 points, the same as the Royal Army, while Nahdat Berkane, the leader with 59 points, is just one point away from winning the title.
Speaking after the game, the South African gaffer said, “I can understand the frustration some people had because of the draw, but not to this extent. Wydad have achieved great results locally and continentally because of their fans and their great support, which is a weapon that should not be weakened at this stage of the season.
“I hope they support us because our results this season are better than the previous ones despite everything. Playing in Ramadan and in conditions like the one in which the Al-Fateh match took place under the rain made the task very difficult.
“I’m not looking for excuses, but this is the reality. We have to leave this maze after three draws that have slowed us down a bit. Our bet was and still is to find the runner-up spot and return to the CAF Champions League,” he added.
Wydad will hope to return to winning ways when they travel to play Ittihad Tanger at the Stade du village sportif de Tanger on Saturday.
