Wydad Casablanca have returned to training ahead of the new football season after players concluded their post-season break.
The time off was granted by head coach Amine Benhachem following the club’s disappointing showing at the Club World Cup in the United States, where they exited in the first round without securing a single point.
Only 17 players took part in the opening training session, with several players absent after coach Benhachem finalised an initial list of departures.
Those on the list were barred from participating in pre-season preparations, with Benhachem instructing them to resolve their futures with club management. Notably, some Moroccan internationals are among the players deemed surplus to requirements.
The futures of Brazilian duo Arthur and Pedrinho also remain unresolved. Benhachem has made it clear that neither player features in his plans for the upcoming campaign.
Nevertheless, both reported for training as Wydad have yet to receive any offers for their services. The pair cost the club around $2 million but have struggled to make any meaningful impact since their arrival.
Former Wydad spokesman Mohamed Talal, who recently stepped down from his role, revealed that club president Hicham Ait Mena had informed him of a substantial offer for one of the Brazilian players.
However, Talal noted that there have been no developments or clarifications regarding the proposed transfer.
