Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club will face Qatari champions Al Sadd in a high-profile pre-season friendly for the “Al Ahrar Cup.”
The encounter is scheduled for Sunday, August 10, at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.
Al Sadd announced the fixture as part of their summer preparations, following their return from a training camp in Spain on August 4.
The match will mark Wydad’s first appearance since competing at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The Casablanca-based side are stepping up preparations for the upcoming season, which includes a campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup after finishing third in the 2024/25 Botola Pro 1.
Al Sadd, Qatar’s most successful football club, boasts an illustrious history with more than 50 official titles, including league crowns, Emir Cups, and continental honours.
The club gained global recognition during the tenure of former Barcelona star Xavi Hernández, who managed the team until late 2024.
The friendly is expected to provide Wydad with a valuable test ahead of the new Moroccan season as they look to bounce back from their underwhelming Club World Cup performance.
