Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Athletic Club are reportedly close to securing the permanent signing of South African forward Thembinkosi Lorch from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 32-year-old attacker, who was sidelined from coach Miguel Cardoso’s plans for the upcoming season, spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan with Wydad, impressing during his brief stint in Morocco.
Lorch made a notable impact at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States and played a pivotal role in helping the Red Castle finish third in the Botola Pro League last season.
His performances quickly made him a fan favorite and drew renewed interest from the Casablanca club.
While Wydad had previously sought to secure Lorch permanently, they were initially unable to meet Sundowns’ asking price, with the South African club reportedly valuing the former Orlando Pirates star highly.
According to reports, Lorch has now agreed to a two-year deal with Wydad and is expected to arrive in Morocco in the coming days to rejoin the squad.
Details regarding the transfer fee remain unclear, with it still unknown whether Sundowns reduced their demands or if Wydad met the original valuation.
Mamelodi Sundowns were offered the right to comment on the move but did not respond before publication.
