Wydad Casablanca head coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem says his team has much to improve on, despite beginning the 2025/26 Moroccan football season with a victory.

The Reds edged Kawkab Marrakech 1-0 at the Stade Mohammed V on Friday, but Benhachem admitted the performance fell short of expectations.

“This isn’t the image Wydad fans are hoping for, nor is it my vision,” Benhachem said.

“We have plenty of room for improvement and growth, and I believe the group is united and the support from the fans is overwhelming, which reassures me a lot.

“We have to work on several things, including improving the quality of our performance, our effectiveness in front of our opponents’ goal, and being more solid in defense. The league is still in its infancy, and Wydad has yet to show its true potential,” he added.

Wydad will look to build momentum when they visit US Yacoub El Mansour at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday.
