After securing victories against South American teams Argentina (33-23) and Paraguay (37-12), Angola faced a setback in their third outing at the Handball World Cup in Serbia, losing to Poland.
The African champions held their ground against the European team during the first half of the match. However, the gap widened during the second period, where the Angolan team seemed to feel the effects of their previous energetic performances. The match concluded with a 9-point difference, with Poland winning 32-23.
Despite this defeat, the Palancas Negras girls still have a chance to qualify for the second round, currently ranking 4th in Pool C. As four nations from each group advance to the round of 16, Angola remains in contention.
Their upcoming matches will be crucial, as they face Norway on Thursday at 8:15 p.m. and Spain on Friday at 6 p.m., with the hope of securing qualification in the next stage of the Handball World Cup.
