World Cup Qualifiers: Kylian Mbappe eager to play for France despite fitness concerns

France international Kylian Mbappe has expressed readiness to feature in the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying games.

The European giants will face Azerbaijan on October 10, followed by a match against Iceland on October 13.

Mbappe, who is of Cameroonian descent arrived in camp injured after being subbed off in Real Madrid’s game against Villarreal in the La Liga at the weekend.

Despite not training with the team, the former Paris Saint Germain star has expressed eagerness to play in the World Cup qualifications.

“My ankle? I want to play. The coach wants me to play. I don’t think it’s anything serious. I feel good. I haven’t trained yet, but I’ll train today. There’s no major concern. I want to play and help the team qualify for the World Cup,” said Mbappé.

Mbappe has been impressive for Real Madrid since the commencement of the 2025/26 football campaign, scoring 14 goals across competitions for the Spanish giants.

The forward delivered an outstanding performance last month, scoring two goals in two matches for the France national. He is currently chasing Olivier Giroud all-time topscorer record in the history of France.
