Morocco's Anass Salah-Eddine eyes win over France

Morocco international Anass Salah-Eddine has expressed confidence in Atlas Lions’ chances ahead of their blockbuster 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-final against France.

The Atlas Lions will take on France at Boston Stadium on Thursday in a highly anticipated last-eight encounter, with a place in the World Cup semi-finals at stake.

The North African powerhouse booked their spot in the quarter-finals after a dominant 3-0 victory over Canada national football team in the Round of 16, while France edged past Paraguay national football team 1-0 to advance.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Salah-Eddine urged his teammates to concentrate on their own game and not be distracted by discussions surrounding the match officials.

“We must focus on our team, and there is no need to worry about the referee of the France match,” he said in comments broadcast by Al Kass TV.

The Moroccan international acknowledged the quality of the French side, describing Les Bleus as one of the strongest teams remaining in the tournament.

“The French national team is strong and includes many outstanding players,” he said.

Despite recognising the challenge that awaits, Salah-Eddine stressed that Morocco have prepared thoroughly for the encounter and are ready to compete against the 2022 World Cup finalists.

He revealed that the Atlas Lions have been working hard in training to ensure they are fully prepared for what promises to be one of the biggest matches of the tournament.

“We are preparing in the best possible way for the difficult match,” he added.

The defender concluded by reaffirming the squad’s belief in their ability to continue Morocco’s impressive World Cup campaign.

“We are confident in our abilities, and we will work to reach the furthest point in the World Cup.”

Morocco will be hoping to avenge their 2-0 defeat to France in the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup as they bid to secure another historic place in the last four of football’s biggest tournament.
