On Tuesday, Gordon Igesund, the coach of Bafana Bafana, unveiled the squad for the upcoming match on the last day of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, where South Africa is set to face Botswana on September 7. Securing a victory in this match would pave the way for Ithumeleng Khune’s teammates to advance to the play-offs.
Notable inclusions in the list are the return of Bongani Khumalo and the recall of Anele Ngconcga. Ngconcga, initially summoned on August 14, had been excluded from selection due to sanctions imposed by his club and subsequently the South African federation.
Currently occupying the second spot in their group, South Africa benefited from the withdrawal of points from the group leader, Ethiopia. The other fixture in the group will see the Antelopes Walya facing off against the Central African Republic.
Here is the squad:
Goalkeepers: Itumeleng Khune, Senzo Meyiwa, Wayne Sandilands
Defenders: Thabo Nthethe, Anele Ngcongca, Bongani Khumalo, Tsepo Masilela, Siyanda Xulu, Buhle Mkhwanazi, Thabo Matlaba
Midfielders: Dikgacoi, Furman, Letsholonyane, Manyisa, Jali, Mokotjo, Zungu, Thulani Serero, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Daine Klate
