The debate surrounding Samir Nasri’s potential selection for the upcoming World Cup has intensified, particularly following his omission from the squad against the Netherlands on March 5th. However, according to Franck Leboeuf, the Manchester City midfielder shouldn’t make the cut for Brazil.
“It’s clear that there’s a significant disparity between his performances at the club level and his outings with the national team. His displays for the French team haven’t been convincing enough,” opines the former central defender in an interview with Le Parisien. He further elaborates, “With the French team likely to adopt a 4-3-3 formation, Nasri’s preferred position on the right side leaves him with limited opportunities. Unfortunately, this role hasn’t yielded positive results for him in the past, especially considering the competition from players like Valbuena and now Griezmann.”
Thankfully for Nasri, Leboeuf isn’t the one making the final decisions for the French team. Thus, Nasri can only hope for a favorable verdict from coach Didier Deschamps when the squad is announced.
