Algerian Fennecs are set to face Burkina Faso on October 12 in Ouagadougou as part of the qualifying play-offs for the 2014 World Cup. Djamel Mesbah, a defender for the Fennecs from Parma, expressed confidence ahead of the crucial match in an interview on Algerian National Radio.
Mesbah acknowledged the difficulty of the upcoming match against Burkina Faso, recognizing their significant progress in recent times. He emphasized the importance of obtaining a positive result away from home to set a solid foundation for qualification. Mesbah cautioned against relying too heavily on the return match in Algiers and stressed the significance of the first leg.
The Fennecs are set to gather on Monday at the national technical center of Sidi Moussa to prepare for the crucial encounter. The coach has called up 36 players, with the squad eventually being trimmed down to 24 or 23 players for the trip to Ouagadougou. The outcome of these playoff matches will determine which team earns a spot in the 2014 World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.
