Women’s U20 World Cup: Ghana face Ecuador as United States begin against Italy

The Women’s U20 World Cup continues on Sunday with the opening matches from Groups C and D, including Ghana’s meeting with Ecuador and the United States’ first game of the tournament against Italy.

Four matches are scheduled across the day, with France facing South Korea and Japan taking on New Zealand in the earlier fixtures. The afternoon programme will then feature Ecuador against Ghana before the United States complete the day’s action against Italy.

Ghana’s Black Princesses will attract particular attention as they begin their campaign. Their opening match against Ecuador is one of two Group C fixtures being played on Sunday, alongside France’s game with South Korea.

The tournament began on Saturday, and Sunday’s matches provide the first appearance of the teams in Groups C and D. With all four sides in Group C involved, the results will establish the early picture in that section of the competition.

France and South Korea will meet at 13:00, before Ecuador and Ghana face one another at 16:00. The Black Princesses’ first match is therefore one of the two afternoon games on the schedule.

Group D also begins with two fixtures. Japan will play New Zealand at 13:00, while the United States will launch their tournament against Italy at 16:00.

The United States’ opening match is one of the day’s headline fixtures, as they enter the competition in the final game on Sunday. Japan and New Zealand will have started the Group D programme several hours earlier.
