The newly-acquired Palestinian forward, Wissam Abu Ali, made a notable impression in his debut with Al Ahly during the friendly against Saudi’s Al-Akhduod.
Despite the Red Devils’ loss in the match, Abu Ali showcased his talent, contributing to Al Ahly’s lone goal scored by Tunisian striker Mohamed El-Dawi Cristo and earning a penalty, which was later missed by Rami Rabia.
Participating for 45 minutes in the friendly, Al Ahly succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against the Saudi side at the Ittihad Kalba Stadium in Ajman, UAE, on Tuesday.
Al-Akhduod’s Romanian player, Tanase, found the net in the 21st and 50th minutes, securing victory for the Saudi team.
Al Ahly responded with a goal by Cristo, courtesy of a skillful pass from Danish-Palestinian player Wissam Abu Ali. Rami Rabia, however, failed to convert a penalty in the 71st minute.
The Al Ahly lineup included: Mustafa Shobier, Akram Tawfik, Ibrahim Abdelhakim, Moataz Mohamed, Mazen Osama, Mustafa Abu Al-Khair, Faris Khaled, Amr El Solia, Karim Fuad, Taher Mohamed Taher, and Anthony Modeste.
Wissam Abu Ali, having recently joined Al Ahly from Suez’s Ceramica Club for a transfer fee of two million euros in January, made his first appearance with the team during their UAE training camp.
The camp also includes players such as Mustafa Shobier, Mustafa Mekhlouf, Hazem Gamal, Rami Rabia, Ibrahim Abdelhakim, Moataz Mohamed, Ahmed Abdeen, Abdeljawad Gouda, Youssef Abdelhafiz, Islam Abdullah, and Mazen Osama.
Al Ahly’s second friendly in the UAE is scheduled against Hatta Club on the coming Friday at 5:00 PM UAE time, 3:00 PM Cairo time, at Hatta Club Stadium.
