President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, says their objective is to win the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The North African country will host the 35th edition of the AFCON tournament which has been scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Speaking a press conference with Moroccan media, Lekjaa emphasised that winning the continental title has become a popular and official demand, saying, “The issue of winning the Africa Cup of Nations is no longer open to discussion.”
“I have said it before, and I repeat it now to everyone: If there is anyone, especially within the technical staff, who has the slightest doubt about achieving this goal, then they have no place among us. I say this based on confidence, optimism, and the available capabilities, in addition to the unified group we possess.
“Winning the AFCON title is no longer just an ambition, but a clear goal. We have provided the infrastructure, including stadiums and equipment, that will create a masterpiece worthy of the continent and the world. The support of the Moroccan fans and media remains the decisive factor in enhancing our chances and achieving the title, God willing, after a long absence,” he added.
Six cities, namely, Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir, Fez, and Tangier will host the prestigious tournament.
The Atlas Lions has been housed in Group A alongside Zambia, Mali and Comoros.
