Zamalek have broken their silence following Ahmed Zizo Mostafa’s controversial switch to arch-rivals Al Ahly, declaring that the club’s identity is bigger than any single player.
Zizo’s departure ended weeks of speculation as Al Ahly confirmed the winger’s signing on a four-year deal, with an option for a fifth. The move sparked strong words from Zamalek SC’s treasurer, Hossam El Mandouh, who questioned Zizo’s loyalty and decision.
“Zamalek remains great with its history,” El Mandouh told Kooora. “Many players have left throughout history, but the name of the club remains and the White Knight will continue to win championships.”
He added, “Whoever leaves Zamalek without respect is the loser, because the entity does not lose and does not stand on anyone. The team won the Egyptian Cup without him, and if he had participated, the team could have lost the title.”
Zizo will likely feature in Al Ahly’s second game in the FIFA Club World Cup.
