Former Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi, has heaped praise on teenager Lamine Yamal, insisting that what he is doing at the age of 17 is extraordinary.
Lamine Yamal has been one of the standout players in the world in the past year.
Born in Spain but of Moroccan descent, the teenager has established himself as the main man for the Spain national team and Barcelona as well.
Speaking on the performances of Yamal, Lionel Messi said he has been impressed.
“It’s impressive what Lamine Yamal is showing, what he’s doing and what he’s already achieved. He’s already won the European Cup with Spain, which is an extraordinary achievement at such a young age,” Messi said.
The Argentinian great added, “He’s only 17 years old, but he’s in the midst of a growth process. He will continue to develop as a player, add new things to his game, and achieve even more, just like I did.”
This season, Lamine Yamal has scored 14 goals for FC Barcelona in all competitions.
Courtesy of his amazing performances, he is regarded as one of the few players likely to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.
