Vincent Kompany says he is savouring the joy of winning the Bundesliga title after guiding Bayern Munich to domestic glory in his first season at the helm.

The Belgian, who has Congolese ancestry through his father, led the Bavarians to a dominant league campaign, clinching the title with two matches to spare.

Bayern were confirmed champions after closest rivals Bayer Leverkusen failed to secure a win against Freiburg.

Kompany took to social media platform X to express his emotions following the triumph, praising both the players and the club’s support staff for their contributions across the season.

“We can take a moment now to enjoy winning the Bundesliga, what an incredible feeling! I want to congratulate the players for their outstanding effort throughout the season. You’ve done this together. You’ve won it as a team,” he posted.

He went on to commend the behind-the-scenes efforts that helped sustain Bayern’s consistency in the title race.

“A big thank you as well to everyone working behind the scenes at this great club, especially in the sporting department. Your hard work matters and it shows. Let’s keep pushing. The season’s not over yet, and there’s still so much to look forward to. Let’s finish strong, together!”

Kompany, who joined Bayern from Burnley last summer, also paid tribute to the fans, calling on them to turn the upcoming home fixture into a celebration.

“Last but certainly not least: a massive thank you to all the Bayern fans all over the world for all your support. You’ve been superb. For those who can make it: let’s create a special moment together on Saturday at the Allianz!”

Bayern Munich will conclude their league campaign with matches against Borussia Monchengladbach and Hoffenheim, before switching attention to the FIFA Club World Cup in June.
