Aaron Wan-Bissaka has expressed satisfaction with his contribution to West Ham United’s 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, highlighting the team’s resilience and unity in what was a tightly contested London derby.
The England youth international, who is of Congolese descent, provided the assist for Jarrod Bowen’s first-half equaliser after Spurs had taken the lead through Wilson Odobert.
It was a crucial moment in a match that saw both sides struggle to assert complete dominance.
Wan-Bissaka’s calm delivery and defensive composure helped steady West Ham after an early setback.
Speaking after the match, Wan-Bissaka said, “It’s always good to help the team and when Jarrod got it, I knew he was going to do something. Either square it or finish, and he chose to finish.”
The defender acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football, adding, “Sometimes in football, you need luck.
“Obviously, we haven’t had that, but we still have a positive mindset, going into games and giving our all.”
He also praised the collective effort of his teammates.
“All round, I think every player gave their best, from the boys who started to the boys that came on the pitch,” he remarked.
The Hammers now prepare for their next league test against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Wan-Bissaka, who previously played at United before joining West Ham, welcomed the opportunity to return to his former ground, stating, “It’ll be nice to go to Old Trafford next week.
“I haven’t been there in a while, but at the end of the day, it’s a football game, and we have the mentality to go there and win.”
