Werder Bremen defender Felix Agu says it would be a dream come true to play for Nigeria, affirming his commitment to the Super Eagles over Germany.
Despite featuring for Germany at youth level, the 25-year-old left-back has decided to represent the West African powerhouse.
Agu, born in Osnabrück, Germany, to a Nigerian father and a German mother, has represented Germany at youth level but remains eligible for the Super Eagles.
“To play at the national level was always a dream of mine, and I had to make half of the decision already by playing for the German under-21 team,” Agu stated. “But I’ve talked a lot to Justin Njinmah about playing for Nigeria, and we both think it would be a dream come true.” He said.
The 25-year-old defender has been outstanding for Werder Bremen this season, scoring two goals and providing an assist in 14 appearances in the German Bundesliga, showcasing his versatility as a left-back and occasional defensive midfielder.
Known for his dribbling, agility, and balance, he has made 88 appearances for Bremen since joining in 2020, scoring four goals and providing eight assists.
Bruno Onyemaechi is the regular choice at left defender for Nigeria, but there is still opportunity for improvement.
Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, who has already selected his team for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, now has an extra choice due to Agu’s availability.
