Everton manager David Moyes has said that he would not be displeased if Liverpool’s star forward, Mohamed Salah, were to leave Anfield this summer.
The Reds’ talismanic forward has been a thorn in the flesh of their Merseyside rivals.
Salah, whose contract is set to expire in June, is slated to lead Liverpool’s attack against Everton at Anfield on Wednesday night in a Premier League game.
The Egyptian’s contract situation has been a topic of considerable discussion. In late 2024, the 32-year-old revealed his disappointment over the lack of progress in contract negotiations.
Regarding the possibility of Salah’s departure, Moyes quipped, “We’ll enjoy taking him to the airport and getting him on the plane, getting him out.”
Moyes acknowledged Salah’s exceptional form, stating, “He’s having an unbelievable season for Liverpool. But let’s be fair we’re talking about one of the top Premier League players of this generation.
“And it’s not just this season, he’s been so consistent over most seasons; scoring plenty of goals, plenty of assists, looks as if he plays nearly all the games, very rarely injured. He’s been an excellent player for Liverpool.”
However, recent reports suggest that Liverpool have initiated negotiations with Salah’s agent, Rami Abbas, offering a deal more substantial than previous proposals.
This development follows indications that teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold is nearing a move to Real Madrid, potentially allowing the club to adjust its wage structure to accommodate Salah’s demands.
