We won't go down easily against South Africa; we will fight for every ball - Rwanda coach Adel Amrouche

Rwanda head coach Adel Amrouche has indicated that the team is determined to secure a win in their final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

The Amavubi will face off with the Bafana Bafana on Tuesday, October 14, to wrap up their qualification campaign.

Rwanda’s hopes of reaching the World Cup were brought to an end following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Benin in Kigali last Friday, a result that mathematically ended their qualification chances.

Despite the disappointment, Amrouche maintains that his side still has plenty to play for and will approach the clash against the Bafana Bafana with determination and pride.

“We are disappointed, yes, because we wanted to win that match. But this is football. What matters now is our reaction — and I can assure you, we will not go down easily against South Africa. We will fight for every ball,” said Amrouche.

He added, “It’s not over until the final whistle. This is about dignity, identity, and the Rwandan spirit. South Africa will meet a team that refuses to give up.”

South Africa must defeat Rwanda tomorrow to stand any chance of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
