Al Ahly head coach, Marcel Koller, has emphasised the need for reinforcements to strengthen the team’s chances of competing effectively in the ongoing Egyptian Premier League season.
Koller’s comments came after his side was held to a goalless draw against Enppi in their Week 7 fixture on Monday, December 30.
Despite being in a favourable position to challenge for the top spot alongside Zamalek SC, the Red Devils’ failure to secure three points has left them trailing behind Pyramids FC and Zamalek.
In a post-match press conference, Koller did not hide his frustration and stressed that Al Ahly’s current squad needs bolstering if they are to compete at the highest level.
“It is clear to everyone that Al Ahly needs reinforcements,” the 64-year-old Swiss coach said.
Currently sitting in third place with 12 points, Al Ahly’s performance has fallen short of expectations. As the team continues to fight for supremacy in Egyptian football, Koller’s call for fresh talent could be pivotal in helping the club regain its competitive edge for the remainder of the season.
