‘We must stay focused’ – Eric Chelle charges Super Eagles ahead of Lesotho clash
The head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has called for focus ahead of their clash against Lesotho in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Friday, October 10.
Nigeria currently sits third in Group C with 11 points, three behind Benin and South Africa in first and second, respectively.
Although qualification looks difficult heading into the last round of games, Eric Chelle is confident the team can still qualify.
This is why he wants the Super Eagles to stay focused and believe in themselves ahead of the crucial clash against Lesotho today.
“Everybody can go to the World Cup. This is football — anything can happen during the game because of the weather, the referee, injuries, or other factors. So, we need to stay focused on what we want from this game.
“We want to win this game, and then we will think about the next one. But for now, we must be 100% focused on Lesotho — they are a good team with a good coach. We need to start well, play with intensity and aggressiveness, score goals, and win,” Eric Chelle said in his pre-match interview.
The clash between Lesotho and Nigeria is scheduled to kick off at 4 pm.
A win will put the Super Eagles in a good position, but a lot will depend on the other games of Benin and South Africa.
