Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has expressed his delight after clinching the 2025 Asian Champions League trophy with Al-Ahli Jeddah.
In the final of the tournament, the Saudi Pro League side defeated Japan’s Kawasaki 2-0 in the game played on Saturday evening at Al-Enma Stadium in Jeddah to lift the trophy.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Edouard Mendy said the team is proud of their achievement.
He described Al-Ahli as a great team with great players.
“We are proud of what we have achieved, and when we learned that the knockout stages would be held in Jeddah, we vowed to win the title and keep the cup in Jeddah, among our fans,” Mendy said.
The former Chelsea man added, “We enter every tournament with the goal of winning the title, because we are a great team with good players in all positions, and we succeeded in performing brilliantly throughout the tournament, without losing.
“Keeping a clean sheet in the final is due to teamwork and the players’ ability to prevent the opponent from reaching the goal, not just my world.”
Meanwhile, Mendy has been named Goalkeeper of the Tournament for the 2025 Asian Champions League.
