Watford FC have completed the acquisition of Morocco international Othmane Maamma in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old talented winger joins the English Championship club for an undisclosed fee, bringing an end to his stay at Montpellier.

The Morocco U21 international penned a four-year deal, keeping him at Watford until summer 2029 and is expected to play a huge role for the club.

He graduated from the Montpellier youth system and played 14 times for their first team in Ligue 1, showing off his speed and strength.

His first senior start was a memorable one as he found the net in a 2-2 draw away at Lens, becoming Montpellier’s third youngest goalscorer in the process.

Born in France, the teenager has been capped 20 times by Morocco Under-20s after first earning international recognition in August 2023.

He was part of the team which reached the final of the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in May, where he scored against Kenya in the group stage.

A player with potential, the Hornets’ technical staff feel Watford is the right next step on Maamma’s journey, given the club’s history of developing young players.

A pathway for the forward will be finalized once he has acclimatized to his new surroundings at the London Colney training ground.
