Wassim Lantaki: Helmond Sport eye move for Morocco-Belgium winger from Jong KVM

Morocco-Belgium left midfielder Wassim Lantaki is being linked with a switch from Belgian side Jong KVM to Dutch second-tier outfit Helmond Sport.

The 22-year-old, who represents Jong KV Mechelen’s U21s and plays in Belgium’s 2de Nationale VV A, is reportedly on the radar of the Keuken Kampioen Divisie club as they explore wide options for next season. The rumour, listed with an unspecified probability (“?”), comes with both his current contract duration and expiry date undisclosed, raising the prospect that he could become a free agent if no extension is agreed.

Lantaki, born in Uccle on 17 February 2004, holds dual Moroccan and Belgian nationality and is primarily deployed on the left of midfield. Standing at 1.73m and preferring his left foot, he has been a regular at youth level for Jong KVM, wearing shirt number 45.

While his current Transfermarkt entry does not list an official market value – recorded as “None” – that ambiguity could play into Helmond Sport’s hands, with any potential deal likely to be framed as a low-risk opportunity to pick up an emerging wide player from the Belgian system.

Recent reports in Belgium have highlighted his involvement for Jong KVM in the 2de Nationale VV A this year, but detailed public statistics remain limited. There is no confirmed fee structure in the speculation, and no indication yet whether a move would involve a transfer, a pre-contract arrangement or a free-agent scenario.

Lantaki is yet to break into a senior top-flight side, so a possible move to Helmond Sport – a club known for giving young players minutes in the Dutch second tier – could offer a significant platform. If the deal materialises, it may prove a pivotal step in turning his promising youth profile into a fully-fledged professional career in mainland European football.
